Kestrel in the Morning Sun ~ mixed media painting

America’s smallest (and in my opinion most beautiful) falcon can be found hunting for food along the waterways and grasslands of the Sacramento River Delta. My sister and I found this particular falcon on a photographing trip Christmas morning 2013. This kestrel let us get much closer than any other kestrels that we’d seen because it was a cold morning.
